Nueva Canarias will ask the National Court to annul its ruling declaring the non-existence of this political formation since 2017, and for which the Interior Ministry has excluded it from the registry of political parties, where it has also requested to be re-registered to go to the 2023 elections with its original name.

This was announced this Saturday at a press conference by the Secretary of Organization of Nueva Canarias, Carmelo Ramírez, who also assured that this party will pay the fine of 50,000 euros imposed by the Court of Auditors for failing to comply with its obligation to present the annual accounts for the years 2018 and 2019 within the established period.

Ramírez has admitted the "management error" committed by NC in not sending its annual accounts on time and said that if there were no arguments to appeal this "disproportionate" sanction, his party will pay it, for which it will request to avail itself of the installment system provided for by law.

The leader of the nationalist formation stressed that it is a "paradox" that a court rules that this party does not exist for five years and that, at the same time, another fines it for a "bureaucratic error" already corrected and that also affects, he said, other political formations.

Accompanied by the party's jurist, Pablo Rodríguez, and the lawyer Jorge Pazos, Carmelo Ramírez assured that NC learned "a year after" the ruling by which it was expelled from the registry of parties due to an "administrative irregularity" related to the adaptation of its statutes to the determinations included in the Organic Law 3/2015 on the control of the economic-financial activity of political parties, which amended the Organic Law 8/2007 on the financing of political parties, the Organic Law 6/2002 on political parties and the Organic Law 2/1982 of the Court of Auditors.

The NC leader has informed that his party will appeal this judicial file for containing "very serious formal defects" that have prevented "its right of defense".

"The right to effective judicial protection of Nueva Canarias has been violated by not notifying the opening of this file", as, according to Ramírez, is stated in the documents that make it up, among which only "some notes from Correos and a notification to its president appear, but to an address where he has never lived", he said.

Carmelo Ramírez explained that, as long as the re-registration of Nueva Canarias in the registry of political parties is confirmed, which is expected to happen in about two months, its leadership has included in it this formation with a new name, "Nueva Canarias Bloque Canarista", with which, as he stressed, "inherits all the approaches, rights and obligations" of the first one.

The member of the NC leadership has guaranteed that "this will not happen again" to this party, which will form a large working team that will be responsible for keeping the internal management up to date, that is, its legal and administrative obligations.

Ramírez has lamented that in this file there has been no "diligence on the part of the Administration to exhaust the ways that would guarantee the rights of this political formation".
