The Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) Local Committee in Teguise has publicly expressed its "firm and unreserved support" for the AMPA of CEIP Costa Teguise and the families of the educational community of this school, who for more than three months have been enduring an "absolutely unsustainable and unjust situation": the absence of a janitor due to the "inability of the Teguise City Council to fulfill a basic and essential responsibility", as reported by La Voz this Tuesday.

For Belén Machín, Local Secretary of NC-bc, "the janitor's work is essential to guarantee the opening and closing of the center, the supervision of the facilities, access control, and ultimately, the safety of the children. Keeping a public school in these conditions for so long shows an alarming lack of interest, foresight, and commitment from the municipal government group of CC, PP, and the former VOX councilor."According to Machín, "the prolonged inaction of the City Council has generated a critical situation that has forced the AMPA of CEIP Costa Teguise, with enormous responsibility and concern, to consider the temporary suspension of extracurricular activities. This is a painful decision, one that no one wishes for, but one that is forced by the lack of minimum guarantees." This measure, the Canary Islands politician continues, "directly affects dozens of families who depend on these services to balance their work and family life and who today feel completely abandoned by the local administration."

NC-bc in Teguise has highlighted the exemplary attitude of the AMPA and the families, who "have shown patience, commitment, and a deep sense of responsibility, while the City Council has chosen to look the other way and not offer solutions to a problem known for months".

On the other hand, they have "firmly denounced the disastrous performance of the governing group, incapable of responding to a situation whose solution depends exclusively on their political will." "It is unacceptable that neglect and lack of priorities fall, once again, on public education and on those who sustain it day by day."“We demand an immediate and effective response. Public education cannot continue to be treated with indifference, nor can families continue to pay the consequences of poor municipal management,” concludes Belén Machín.
