The City Council of San Bartolomé, through the Areas of Finance and Education, has received a total of 354 applications in the annual call for study grants aimed at families in the municipality.
These grants, which reach up to 1,000 euros per beneficiary, constitute the highest amount among those granted by the municipal administrations of Lanzarote and seek to facilitate access for students registered in San Bartolomé to quality education.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted “the firm commitment of the institution to equal opportunities, noting that the objective of the City Council is that no family in the municipality sees the possibility of their daughter or son accessing a quality education limited.” He added that these grants represent a “fundamental tool to support families and alleviate the expenses derived from academic training.”
In fact, the City Council of San Bartolomé paid 323,000 euros, for accommodation and transport, distributed in 350 grants awarded in 2024.
For her part, the Councilor for Education, Estefanía Luzardo, stressed the importance of this financial support and explained that “with these grants, the effort of families has real support from their City Council of San Bartolomé.” She also recalled that it is a “commitment to inclusive and accessible education, which should become a driving force for progress for young people and for the municipality as a whole.”
Currently, the City Council is in the phase of reviewing the documentation submitted by the applicant families, to proceed to a correction stage in case of correcting or including information, a step prior to the publication of the final resolution of these grants and their subsequent payment.
"The study grants from the San Bartolomé City Council have been consolidated as one of the support lines most valued by the families of the municipality, while reaffirming the commitment of the Government team to support education as a fundamental pillar of social cohesion," they conclude from the Consistory.
