The Island Roadside Service has removed more than 200 tons of waste in the last four months. "The crews are doing an intense and commendable job to keep the island's roads clean," said the vice president, who also says that the Department of Public Works is working "to increase the staff and, in this way, reach a greater number of problematic points in the island's geography."
Jacobo Medina also wanted to thank the citizens for their collaboration, who, through social networks or official channels, inform and alert of dangerous situations on some of the roads.
"There are many points where the flora grows very quickly, and can even invade the road itself, and there are many citizens who alert of these situations even before we detect it, which is undoubtedly a great help and denotes the civic-mindedness that prevails in Lanzarote," he added.
It should be remembered that the Cabildo of Lanzarote, last March, reached an agreement with UTE Tabaiba for it to recover the service and, consequently, maintain the 31 workers in the staff. "We made a superhuman effort to solve a problem left by the previous government and that, in addition to leaving the roadside service in the air, left these 31 families unemployed," Medina stressed.
