The president of the Cabildo and the Water Consortium, María Dolores Corujo, has ordered the initiation of an informative file "in order to determine the responsibilities" that exist for the cuts that have been registered in the supply of agricultural water on the island.
In this regard, Corujo has shown her "absolute concern". And, in addition to the complaints from farmers in the Vega de Machín area of San Bartolomé, she has stated that "since the summer" and "mainly since the month of August", "difficulties" have also been recorded in other parts of the island.
In this sense, she has pointed out that farmers in the Zonzamas area have also had problems and has recalled that the Lanzarote Tourist Federation also denounced that hotel establishments were suffering cuts in the water supply for watering their gardens. "This without prejudice to situations that we have also experienced in Arrecife, in the general water supply, linked to regenerated water in other locations," she added.
Faced with this, Corujo has stated that Canal Gestión was ordered in an "urgent" and "formal" manner to restore the water. "In some with more success, in others with less success", the president of the Cabildo pointed out, however, which is why she has stated that she has ordered that "all legal measures be adopted and, above all, from a procedural and administrative point of view, so that this type of damage does not continue to be maintained over time".
"We have to do this type of decision well, have all the information about it, both that provided in this case by the concessionaire company, and the documentation that exists on the previous files that are held in the Consortium through the Management and all the technical services that we have. Therefore, I have ordered that the corresponding information file be initiated in order to determine the responsibilities that exist and that have given rise to this situation," concluded the president of the Cabildo and the Water Consortium.
