López Aguilar says that "we will only talk with CC about the institutions after generating bases of trust"

The candidate of the PSC- PSOE for the presidency of the regional government, Juan Fernando López Aguilar, assured this Thursday, in statements to ACN Press, that in the contacts he will maintain from next week with Coalición Canaria to form a Government, "we will only talk about the institutions after generating bases of trust."

"The first thing, before anything else, is to carry out a shared diagnosis of the electoral results," said López Aguilar, "in the Canary Islands there has been a pulse for change and citizens not only wanted the Government to change, but also the way of governing. I would like to be able to carry out that shared analysis together with CC."

In this sense, he stated that the first thing he will talk about is not "the distribution of positions, but the problems that the Canary Islands have" and that "it is not about starting to distribute armchairs, but about reinforcing confidence in politics, because that is, precisely, what citizens have opted for."

ZAPATERO

Regarding the participation of the socialist Federal Executive and the central Government in the agreements, the socialist candidate assured ACN Press that he remains "in permanent contact" with the President of the Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, and with the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, José Blanco, as it is the socialist leadership "who has entrusted this work to me."

However, he stressed that he does so "thinking about what is best for the Canary Islands" and that the PSOE's analysis of what is happening in the Archipelago is "singularized", without being influenced by the negotiations taking place in other Autonomous Communities.

PP-CC: "LOSERS' PACT"

In this sense, López Aguilar insisted that if there were a pact between Coalición Canaria and the PP, "a pact of losers would be taking place to avoid change", and he contrasted this eventual agreement with the one that will most likely take place in the Cabildo of Gran Canaria between the PSOE and Nueva Canarias, since "both want change."

Along the same lines, he stressed that the PSC- PSOE has experienced significant growth in votes in all the Islands and that after the "sinking" of CC in Gran Canaria, it is "the only formation that connects the Autonomous Community" and "the majority of citizens have wanted me to be the president."

On the other hand, López Aguilar assured that "there is no basis" for the information that speaks of him trying to "touch" deputies of Coalición Canaria in some Islands and that "all my contacts with CC will take place through Paulino Rivero."

In his statements to ACN Press, López Aguilar also said that he will maintain some contact with the PP, as that is "what democratic normality demands."

NEGOTIATING COMMISSION

The PSOE negotiating commission that will meet from next week with Coalición Canaria is already formed and will include, in addition to López Aguilar himself; the former leader of the PSC Augusto Brito; the current deputy secretary general, Francisco Hernández Spínola; and the regional parliamentarian for Gran Canaria and former sub-delegate of the Government Carolina Darías.

The group could also include the PSOE leader in La Palma, Rita Gómez, candidate in the past elections for mayor of Los Llanos de Aridane.
