The Lanzarote delegation present at the 41st edition of Fitur has held several working meetings with the advisors of the Spanish Tourism Offices (OETs) of Turespaña in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Brussels and The Hague, all of them located in some of the most select tourist markets in the world.
The president of the Cabildo, Mª Dolores Corujo, points out that "we wanted to take advantage of the International Tourism Fair to strengthen contacts and move decisively in one of the most important promotional bets we have undertaken with the Lanzarote Premium project."
"While our priority is focused on showing our efforts to turn the island into a safe tourist model, with these meetings we continue to lay the foundations to reposition ourselves as a Premium destination that is committed to exclusive tourists who are more aware of the importance of living and enjoying values associated with sustainability, the environment and the ethnographic heritage of the destinations they visit."
For his part, the island's Minister of Tourism Promotion, Ángel Vázquez, highlighted "the excellent reception by the heads of the OETs and their willingness to collaborate in this task, through the organization of familiarization trips with the destination, holding activities that highlight our tourism products and promote the island in their communication channels." The purpose of this type of meeting is also "to encourage the opening of new routes from this type of cities and countries that issue tourism with high income levels."
'Lanzarote Premium'
As will be recalled, the tourism product 'Lanzarote Premium' is an ambitious project led by the first Island Corporation, through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, in collaboration with the Martínez Group, which has the support of more than 120 business entities on the island, and whose objective is to position Lanzarote as an exclusive and differentiated destination in order to attract high-end tourists to the island.
