The Arrecife City Council has ordered the closure of a workshop for car body and paint repairs for lacking the corresponding enabling title. This workshop, located on Arcipreste de Hita street in the Altavista neighborhood, had been reported to the Local Police by affected residents.
The closure agreement, in addition to the imposition of a fine of 15,001 euros, was agreed upon in the last plenary session held by the Arrecife City Council on November 28.
An investigation initiated following neighborhood complaints
The councilor for the Infractions Area, Kevin Cortés, who also holds the portfolio for Security and Emergencies, indicated to the plenary session that this penalty amount is regulated by being declared in the administrative file's instruction as a very serious infraction for carrying out a classified activity as a bodywork and paint shop without the required municipal license.
Cortés detailed in the plenary session that the investigation was carried out by the Local Police after receiving complaints and reports from residents of the area, who, upon visiting the premises, verified that it lacked a license to carry out that activity.
The councilor has informed residents to report to the Local Police any actions by individuals or companies that may be carrying out activities without the necessary administrative authorizations, posing a risk to neighboring residents, as they may lack risk prevention measures or protection systems, in addition to constituting unfair competition towards companies and self-employed individuals who do comply with the legislation regulating these activities.
