The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, held a meeting with PSOE members from Lanzarote to discuss strategic issues and key investments focused on the primary sector and water management on the island. The minister is in Lanzarote to mark the 250th anniversary of Bodegas El Grifo and wanted to share a space for dialogue with the island organization.
The Secretary-General of the PSOE of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, appreciated the minister's closeness and underscored the usefulness of the meeting: "Thank you, Minister Luis Planas, for dedicating time to listen to our members and to convey certainties. Today we reviewed strategic investments, underway and about to begin, that strengthen the countryside of Lanzarote and the island's water efficiency.”
Corujo specifically highlighted the planned action in Tinajo and Teguise: "I want to emphasize the investment of 24.4 million euros obtained in the last legislature for the irrigation of Tinajo and Teguise, which is about to materialize. We are talking about the modernization of irrigation systems, improvement of reservoirs and networks, and a more efficient use of water that will give stability to our agricultural operations."
The island's socialist leader detailed the priorities shared with the head of Agriculture: "Lanzarote needs useful and measurable policies: modernization of the sector, support for farmers and wineries, efficiency in the use of water, and more added value in our agri-food chain. These are decisions that protect the landscape, consolidate employment, and strengthen our economy.”
The PSOE of Lanzarote appreciated the participation of the members and the exchange of proposals during the meeting, which was aimed at resolving specific needs of the primary sector and water management on the island.
