The government program of the Popular Party candidate for Mayor of Yaiza, Juan Monzón, includes a "determined and serious" commitment to "environmental care and the beautification of the municipality" which includes, among other measures, "the creation of a new viewpoint in Femés", the PP reports.

The proposed intervention is "completely respectful of the environment and local idiosyncrasy", and would include the creation of a "walkable area of volcanic pavement and ground-level planters with lapilli and local flora", he says. Likewise, the views would be left "as free as possible and a completely accessible area would be included for people with mobility problems or in wheelchairs", he adds.

Juan Monzón points out that "the basic idea is to create a well-kept space, in harmony with the environment, with elements and materials typical of the island and that can be used by residents and visitors in total safety and comfort."

"This is a perfectly viable action that aims above all to highlight the great natural and scenic value of the area," he says. "We do not want the viewpoint to be the protagonist in itself, but rather the instrument that facilitates the enjoyment of our natural environment," the candidate emphasizes.

"Along with the creation of this new viewpoint, which will include information panels in several languages," the Populars also plan "the conditioning of the Femés to Maciot road, a road that is increasingly used by tourists visiting the municipality of Yaiza," he concludes.
