Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, was this Friday on the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote - Onda Cero to answer some questions, including complaints that the Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote hosts musical events in addition to sports.
And it is that as La Voz published this Thursday, a neighbor has launched a campaign to collect signatures to request that the Ciudad Deportiva de Lanzarote not host more concerts because "they damage the space and force part of the place to be closed, which prevents athletes from using the sports center."
In reference to this, Monzón said on the program that "as of today, the venues we have on the island do not have the necessary knowledge to host concerts, so as of today we have to continue to combine the use of the Ciudad Deportiva for sports and musical use with the concerts we will have this summer."
The Minister continued saying that "I can understand the platform but they also have to understand that there are many people who want to participate in the concerts and there is a lot of demand in this type of activities."
According to the Minister, they have tried to "find another place to move these concerts but as of today it is the only venue that meets the security requirements and access to accommodate so many people."
"From the Sports area we are working together with the other areas that organize the concerts to preserve the recent work that has been carried out and that will be put into use in March and, in addition, to ensure that the events that take place in this place are compatible with the sports activities that will be carried out on similar dates," Monzón declared.
Given the possibility of moving the concerts to Agramar, the Minister revealed that "it is something that has been considered but it is not the same to celebrate the carnivals where everyone enters and leaves when they want to have a closed and limited space" although "it is not ruled out" that it will be used as a place for musical events.
