"I would like to be very cautious, because we are talking about a very complicated matter." This is how the Councilor for the Local Police of Arrecife, Jacobo Lemes, has spoken about an anonymous video, in which the attitude of an agent is denounced. The video reached the media last week and the sender assures that he filed a complaint at the end of June. However, more than two and a half months later, the Consistory still does not know if the police officer was on duty or not, although he appears in the video in uniform. "If he is on duty, the agent's behavior is not the most appropriate, but I want to be cautious", Lemes has limited himself to saying on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.
Lemes has acknowledged that before the video, the "complaint from a neighbor in a previous letter" arrived, in which the agent who could have had irregular behavior was not identified. "It was sent to the Headquarters for the head of service to make a report," the councilor said regarding this complaint.
Last week, the Arrecife City Council learned of the existence of this video, which was sent anonymously to the media. Faced with this recording in which it is denounced that an agent went to a bar at a gas station after receiving a 112 call and ended up "consuming and taking drinks from the premises to serve a friend", the councilor has insisted that he wants to be "cautious".
"It is a security body that must have discipline," Lemes recalled, who has announced that this same Tuesday a report will be requested from the Chief of Police so that "the administrative processes that lead to clarifying this situation" are carried out. The councilor has assured that he still does not know if this agent was on duty or not, although in the video he appears in uniform and you can see the local police car outside the gas station.
Before speaking more clearly on this matter, the councilor has assured that he has to see the report and speak with the agent, since he still "has not had the opportunity". "The agent has not contacted me, although I know he has been in the Mayor's Office," Lemes said.
