Haría hosts the meeting of the new Commission for Fisheries, Coasts and Insularity

Its main objective is the defense and promotion of the interests of the integrated localities and also to establish a debate to guarantee the progress and well-being of the coastal communities.

The Haría Viewpoint was the setting for the meeting of the new Fisheries, Coasts and Insularity Commission that took place this Friday, chaired by the president of the Commission and mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba. The meeting brought together several authorities from the Fisheries Commission to discuss key issues affecting coastal areas and artisanal fishing activity.

The president of the Commission, Alfredo Villalba, stressed that "the objective is to establish a three-year work plan, with specific actions for each year. This joint effort will allow the measures adopted to respond to the needs of our coasts and islands."

For his part, the vice president of the Commission, David de Vera, pointed out that "this meeting marks the beginning of a new stage, where collaboration between the different authorities is key to advancing in the development and protection of our coasts and islands." "We will continue working to ensure that these actions benefit coastal communities and preserve their future," he said.

Among the most outstanding points on the agenda, the transfer of powers in coastal matters was addressed, a fundamental issue to guarantee the protection of emblematic infrastructures, which are fundamental for island territories. In addition, important protection measures for artisanal and polyvalent fishing were discussed, a vital sector for the local economy and for the preservation of marine ecosystems.

This commission is part of the 30 Working Commissions integrated in the FEMP (Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces). Its main objective is the defense and promotion of the interests of the integrated localities and establishes as a priority to generate a permanent debate about the issues it occupies, to guarantee the progress and well-being of the coastal communities.

The Haría City Council, with this meeting, "reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable development of its natural resources, and the support to the populations that depend on the fishing sector, guaranteeing a prosperous future for generations to come."
