The beaches of Puerto del Carmen have had the hammock and umbrella rental service since this Tuesday, which are displayed on the sands of Playa Grande from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for the months of June to September, which are extended until 7 p.m. In the coming days they will be installed on the beaches of Matagorda, Los Pocillos and Playa del Medio.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the Councilor for Beaches and Tourism, Mame Fernández, express their "satisfaction for the improvement of the tourist image of Puerto del Carmen and for the gradual recovery of activity, which implies greater economic revitalization in the beach area and throughout the municipality."
They highlight the collective benefit of the ordering of the territory and the use of the beaches and their accesses with the regulation of the installed elements. The contract includes regulating access channels to the beaches and the installation and use of nautical elements, such as skates, kayaks and the water park.
The awarded company is Enyesque and the service has a budget of 1.4 million euros as a fee with a duration of four years.
According to this contract, the maximum authorized number of hammocks amounts to 1,698, to which are added 849 umbrellas. It also includes 10 kayaks and 17 skates, in addition to the installation and operation of the water park in Playa Grande.
The price of these services, for which payment by card will be encouraged, ranges from 3.50 euros per day to rent a hammock to 15€ for kayak or skate rental, or 10€ for the water park. Likewise, 586.95 meters of walkways will be installed, mainly in Los Pocillos, Matagorda and Playa Grande.
The awarded company will also be responsible for ordering the access channels to the beach for these elements and others such as stand up paddle. To all this will be added the installation of a floating dock in the dock area of Playa de la Barrilla (Playa Chica).
