It was nine in the morning this Tuesday when the PIL councilor in Yaiza, Gladys Acuña, arrived at the City Council's Technical Office accompanied by a notary to request the files again related to the agreement signed with the developer Residencial Costa Roja S.L. This Tuesday marked eight days since Monday, February 19, Gladys Acuña requested to see those files in writing, given the refusal of the Head of the Technical Office to show them. "The Law says that the City Council has five calendar days from when they receive the written request, so the deadline has been greatly exceeded."

This same Monday she tried to see the files again, together with the councilor of the Socialist Party, Marcial Valiente, but the response in the Technical Office was that "the mayor had not yet resolved anything to the writing". When this Tuesday she appeared again at the Technical Office, according to Gladys Acuña, "the secretary called a local police officer who a few minutes later notified me that on Friday I could see those files". According to the councilor, the Local Police is in charge of notifying the decrees. "I have not seen the mayor any of the times I have gone, he is almost never in the City Council," she points out.

Immediately afterwards, the councilor, relying on the fact that "the right assists me to see those files" from the moment the deadline from when she presented the writing is exceeded, demanded to see the secretary, who informed her that he would not show her those files because the mayor had already decided that she would see them next Friday. "He told me that it was not in his will to hide anything from me," says Gladys, "the notary recorded the entire conversation".

The councilor does not plan to go to court to denounce the repeated refusals to show her the documents, because she clarifies that "the complaint would be filed" and would slow down the possibility of accessing the information related to the license for more than 1000 homes and 220 premises, "I prefer to see it on Friday," she concludes.

The Cabildo also wants more information

For its part, the Cabildo also demands more information. The Territorial Policy Commission met at noon this Tuesday at the First Institution, where they agreed to request all possible information from the Yaiza City Council regarding the license granted to Residencial Costa Roja S.L. Mario Pérez, Minister of Territorial Policy, announced the elaboration of a legal study of the document issued by the Yaiza City Council for which they will request the corresponding information and from that moment on "we will act forcefully," says the minister.

For the moment, in the Plenary that the Cabildo celebrates this Wednesday, measures against the Yaiza City Council and its mayor will be studied, ranging from the subrogation of urban planning powers that the consistory now has to requesting criminal responsibilities against the mayor himself, José Francisco Reyes. As requested by the Popular Party and PSOE respectively in separate motions that will be debated in the Plenary.
