The Cabildo of Lanzarote has formalized the notification to the public company Gesplan for the commission of the habitat restoration project in the Cumbres de Famara. The Department of Environment will allocate almost 900,000 euros until 2026 with the aim of protecting and recovering this valuable natural space in the northwest of the island.

The project, which includes a series of actions aimed at ecological restoration and the improvement of biodiversity in the Cumbres de Famara and is part of the Lanzarote Strategy 2016-2025 program (FDCAN), has as its main purpose the recovery of degraded habitats and the conservation of native species.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, has thanked all the actors involved in this important project, reaffirming the commitment of the island's Government group to the protection of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development.

For his part, Councilor Samuel Martín, considers that "the collaboration with Gesplan will allow us to carry out this task effectively and efficiently, ensuring that the resources allocated are used in the best possible way for the benefit of the community and the environment."

"We are committed to protecting our natural environment and the restoration of the Cumbres de Famara is an important step in this direction. This initiative not only seeks to restore natural habitats, but also to promote biodiversity and sustainability on the island," said Councilor Samuel Martín in this regard.

The project has a financing of 897,418.39 euros, distributed in the following terms: 200,400.37 euros (2024), 455,000 euros (2025), and 242,018.02 euros (2026). This investment will allow the implementation of concrete restoration and conservation measures in the Cumbres de Famara, thus contributing to the sustainable development of Lanzarote and the well-being of its natural ecosystems.
