More than 570 people benefited during the year 2024 from three programs promoted by the Canarian Foundation Flora Acoge, an entity that develops essential projects to improve the quality of life of people at risk of social exclusion, thanks to the subsidy from the Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council, directed by Maite Corujo.

The councilor, who recently visited the facilities of said Organization and was able to see firsthand the positive impact of the projects developed, has highlighted the work of the Area she coordinates and of the Foundation itself so that no person in a vulnerable situation is left behind.

“The support for these projects allows us to reach those who need it most, whether they are lonely elderly people, families at risk of exclusion or people without income who are looking to get ahead,” Corujo said.

Flora Acoge is a non-profit entity with a long history in the care and support of people in vulnerable situations. Its work focuses on offering accompaniment, guidance and resources to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged groups.

During 2024, the Foundation developed three key projects with funding from the Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council. The first of these was the Project Accompaniment to the Elderly in Solitude, which attended to 72 elderly people in a situation of isolation or with signs of premature aging due to their physical, social or economic condition, with the aim of improving their vital and social conditions.

For its part, the La Sereta Project provided support to 262 people, mainly families at risk of social exclusion with minors in their care, mostly single women with economic and work difficulties. Finally, the Social Promotion Project offered psychosocial support and coverage of basic needs to 243 people, mostly middle-aged men in a situation of unemployment and without income, with a limited social support network.

“It is essential to continue with these programs that improve the quality of life of many people in Arrecife. We are going to continue working and collaborating with entities such as Flora Acoge to expand the scope of these projects and guarantee dignified care for those who need it most,” concludes the councilor.
