"They are possible amendments, they are to be executed before December 31 with the commitment of the Government of the Canary Islands." In this way, the PSOE parliamentarian Manolo Fajardo Palarea has defended the amendments that he has presented together with the Canarian nationalist group so that Lanzarote receives 5.3 million euros from the Draft Law on Extraordinary Credit of the Canary Islands, instead of the 2.4 initially allocated.
Fajardo Palarea has assured that "it would be irresponsible and an attitude revealing political shamelessness to put items in allocations that cannot be executed", so he has announced that the amendments presented "are possible, they can be done", since they have the commitment of different councilors. "If they were not executed, I would be the first to ask that political actions be taken against the political official who has committed the item and has not complied with it," he said.
Thus, he has pointed out that the 1.5 million that the Mácher road will receive will be executed, since "the councilor Domingo Berriel has committed to this". "There is no need to tender, or award, we do not run that danger," he said, while pointing out that this work "will generate economy and employment".
The 1.2 million euros that will go to the Strategy for Improving Tourist Spaces on the island, are also committed "by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands", Paulino Rivero, and among the actions will be the Modernization Plan for Puerto del Carmen.
In addition, the Cabildo of Lanzarote will receive another 736,000 euros that "is a debt for the settlement of island agreements in matters of culture and conservation of historical heritage". With this money, the Cabildo "will be able to spend it on cultural matters, where the government group decides." "The Cabildo can create items for projects and will have to prioritize its actions," explained the parliamentarian.
He lashes out at PIL and PP for their amendments
In a press conference, the socialist parliamentarian has lashed out harshly against the PP and the PIL, parties that criticized the PSOE and CC for "mistreating" the island with this distribution of the extraordinary credit. Both PP and PIL have presented amendments, but "well below" those presented by the PSOE, according to Fajardo Palarea, who does not understand the attitude of these two parties.
The PP, according to the socialist parliamentarian, has presented two amendments, "one of them is to change 400,000 euros to another item and its great contribution is 300,000 euros to correct what they described as mistreatment." "In Fuerteventura, they have presented amendments worth 1,115,000 euros, thus widening the difference between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, in favor of Fuerteventura. The final photo of the PP is that Lanzarote is the island that receives the least via amendments," questioned the PSOE parliamentarian.
"Even more surprise" Fajardo Palarea has taken with the PIL. "Mr. Fabián Martín presents two amendments. One of 500,000 euros for the Mácher roundabout and another of 200,000 euros for salaries for specialized care in health," he indicated. Therefore, "the PSOE and the Canarian nationalist group have put eight times more money in the amendments than the PP and four times more than the PIL. Now they are the ones who must explain why they have tried to vilely deceive for the second time in a year, because first it was with the general budgets. I find it shameful," he added.
300 million more than received by the State
Manolo Fajardo believes that the Canary Islands should have received 506 million euros, and not 206 million euros, for "complying with the deficit target". "If there had been sensitivity on the part of the State, they should have given us 506 million euros, with which we could do many things. But Madrid did not want to, although it treated communities governed by the PP that did not comply with the deficit target in a better way. This is money that we will have to return to Madrid and that responds to an unfair distribution by the central government," he criticized.
