The digital magazine of satirical humor [El Agitador->http://www.elagitador.com/] has announced that it will appeal the sentence that condemned it two weeks ago to pay 20,000 euros for a cartoon it made about prosecutor Miguel Pallarés, whom he called "Miguel Callaré" and "the mute prosecutor." In addition, it has launched a campaign in "defense of freedom of expression" and to raise funds to face this payment, through the website [yotambiensoyelagitador.wordpress.com->http://yotambiensoyelagitador.wordpress.com/].

The campaign, according to Carlos Meca, editor of El Agitador, aims to publicize the story of the cartoon of "The mute prosecutor", for which the administrators of the magazine were sentenced to pay a fine of 7,500 euros and compensation of 12,000 euros for the complainant, Miguel Pallarés. Thus, a review is made of the circumstances surrounding the elaboration of the cartoon, the situation of the house of prosecutor Pallarés in La Bufona and "the eternalization of the judicial process that must determine the illegality of the partial plan in which his house is located." In addition, a link to the full text of the judgment and to news and opinion articles about it is included.

The new website includes a section so that anyone who wishes to do so can collaborate with the members of El Agitador, "who have been having their payrolls partially seized for almost a year, as they were imposed a bond of 80,000 euros for this case," they said in a statement.

For those interested in collaborating economically with the satirical website, bank account nº 0075 0951 74 060 06453 61 has been set up, and soon t-shirts will be sold to help cover the amount of the fine.

On the new page, the members of the magazine define themselves as "an independent media that fights through humor to live on a freer, fairer and more democratic island." "We do it, with our successes and our mistakes, from the conviction that laughter is powerful and that an idea is transmitted better from the crazy distortion of the reality that surrounds us," they insisted.
