The fighters Daniel González and Saulo Hernández, from Club TAZ Lanzarote, after obtaining the gold and bronze medal in their respective categories within the European Championship of national Grappling Gi teams, a sport that combines different modern and traditional styles of wrestling and martial arts.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Benancort, and the sports counselor, Juan Monzón, received the fighters. Betancort congratulated the athletes for their achievements in the championship. In addition, he highlighted "the passion, commitment, and effort" of the fighters, valuing their merits and overcoming in the international competition.
The sports counselor, Juan Monzón, pointed out that these sports achievements "serve as an example and inspiration for young fighters and fans of the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa".
Daniel González competes within the Sub20 category, while Saulo Hernández does so in the Sub17. These are not the first distinctions they receive, since in the 2023 World Wrestling Championship Saulo Hernández obtained the bronze medal in Gi in the U17 category, while Daniel González won the silver in the U20 category in No-Gi.
In addition, during the 2022 Spanish Grappling Championship, Daniel González won the gold in the Sub17 category, and Saulo Hernandez the silver in the Sub15.
