Corujo celebrates the two new road investments of the Canary Islands Government and regrets the "lost decade" with San Ginés

The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed her satisfaction with the awarding of the projects to intervene on the Guatiza-Órzola and Arrecife-El Cable roads for a value of 412,299 euros, announced last Friday by the Government of the Canary Islands. "These are two interventions of extraordinary importance. In addition to the necessary adaptation of the pavement in the Guatiza-Órzola section, given the time elapsed since its execution, there is the urgent need to improve road safety, while the Arrecife-El Cable section requires a definitive solution that responds to the high intensity of vehicles that use it daily," they emphasize from the Island Corporation.

"The Government of the Canary Islands has fulfilled the commitment of the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing, Sebastián Franquis, who announced these tenders and the firm will of the Government to recover the historical delay in investments that Lanzarote has been suffering," said the president.

In addition, Corujo lamented "the lost decade led by San Ginés" in the Presidency of the Cabildo. "Since 2011, the Government of the Canary Islands has not tendered road works on the island, despite the infrastructure deficit that Lanzarote suffers. Everything remained in Power Point presentations and advertising campaigns selling smoke,” he questioned.

“Now it is time to recover lost time and add the investment effort of the Government of the Canary Islands with the projects derived from the recovery and reactivation plans to help Lanzarote regain its economic pulse after the impact of the pandemic,” concluded the president.
