A great scare was experienced on Monday afternoon, December 8, on the coast of La Santa, when, around 6:20 PM, the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium received a report of the disappearance of a surfer in an area with particularly dangerous waves.

According to the information provided, it was the athlete's father who alerted emergency services after losing sight of him

A search operation was immediately launched, although it ultimately did not need to be completed: the surfer managed to get out on his own among the rocks, without requiring medical assistance, despite the complicated sea conditions.

The incident coincided with a particularly difficult day on the Lanzarote coast. Hours earlier, two fishermen had to be rescued after a rogue wave swept them into the water. One of them was evacuated in critical condition, while the second managed to get to safety with the help of emergency services.

As will be recalled, the Canary Islands Government maintains an active pre-alert for adverse coastal phenomena, with waves expected to reach four meters in height. Authorities insist on exercising extreme caution, especially in risk areas and cliffs, given conditions that will continue to be dangerous in the coming hours.
