The Tías City Council will launch a project called 'Conversations with Soul' next April, which will consist of weekly video calls to people over 65 years of age, with the aim of accompanying them and improving their physical and psychological health in the face of isolation caused by covid-19. This initiative will be complemented by the 'Active Aging' project, which promotes the training of cognitive and physical abilities.
On the one hand, 'Conversations with Soul' will be executed for three months by the Association of Women of Before and Now Madara. According to the group, this accompaniment "provides the elderly person with the benefits of companionship, the socialization of having a friendly voice with which to chat and share the things that worry them."
On the other hand, 'Active Aging' is another proposal linked to the care of the elderly in the municipality. A psychologist, a social worker, an occupational therapist and a sports monitor will make visits and work to slow down the physical and cognitive deterioration of users.
Both proposals, promoted by the Departments of Elderly and Social Services, managed by Pepa González and Nicolás Saavedra, aim to prevent cognitive deterioration in the elderly of the municipality and offer them tools to take care of their physical and mental health, in addition to promoting social relations and a healthy lifestyle.
