A new book about the figure of César Manrique, which bears the name of the artist from Lanzarote, will be presented on Thursday, September 24, at 8:30 p.m., in the José Saramago Room in Arrecife. The author, Fernando Castro Borrego, will preside over the presentation of the work published by the Ministry of Education.
The art critic Fernando Castro Flórez, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alberto Delgado Prieto, and the president of the César Manrique Foundation, José Juan Ramírez, will also participate.
The event takes place just one day before the 17th anniversary of his death in a traffic accident, at the age of 73, very close to the César Manrique Foundation.
Fernando Castro Borrego's extensive study takes a tour of the life of César Manrique and extensively analyzes his work from an integral perspective, attending to his various creative facets: painter, sculptor, landscaper.... To elaborate it, Professor Castro uses numerous direct sources, press articles and critical bibliography. His contribution is added to the bibliographic contributions that, in recent years, have been reviewing the figure of the artist from Lanzarote and revaluing his figure.
