The Local Committee of the Canarian Coalition in Arrecife regrets and denounces the "insistence of the State in continuing with its plans to crowd dozens of people into containers that they intend to locate at the entrance of the capital", and shows its concern after verifying that preparations have already begun on the land behind the National Police Station.
The local secretary, Jacobo Lemes, questions whether these earth movements already have the corresponding municipal permits and asks the capital's mayor, Ástrid Pérez, to stop such nonsense. "Puerto Naos cannot become a new Arguineguín. You can't be crowding people into barracks in subhuman conditions, as the PSOE intends to do," he said.
That is why the nationalists from Arrecife will demand in the Senate and in the Congress of Deputies, through the representatives of CC in both chambers, that "the State assume its powers once and for all and stop saturating the essential services not only of the capital, but of the entire island."
"If our security forces and the health sector are dedicated to attending to a competence that belongs to the State, they will abandon their functions, these services will be diminished and those who end up paying the consequences, if they are not already doing so, will be all citizens," Lemes emphasizes.
Thus, the local secretary insists that "it cannot be that in order to attend to a direct competence of the Ministry of the Interior, it is intended to overload the already scarce resources of the National Police or that our health workers are forced to abandon their functions to attend to other needs."
"If we add to that the degrading treatment of people who are only looking for an opportunity in life, what is clear is that Sánchez's socialist government is washing its hands, leaving us to our fate, both us and them, while the president of the Cabildo, Dolores Corujo (PSOE), and the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres (PSOE), instead of defending our interests, remain silent so as not to bother Ferraz," Lemes asserts.
