The municipal group of Coalición Canaria-PNC in Arrecife has made public that the City Council "has had to return a subsidy again for not having the capacity to execute the projects for which it had been granted."

On this occasion, it states that the money claimed from the City Council amounts to 42,500 euros that had been granted by the Cabildo of Lanzarote for the execution of the project called “Complementary activities for the promotion and commercial revitalization.”

For the spokesperson of the Local Committee of Coalición Canaria in Arrecife, Maite Corujo, this fact is “unacceptable because, while small businesses are drowning due to the health situation, the misgovernment of Arrecife has prevented the implementation of adequate measures to stop the economic bleeding of our merchants, showing itself absolutely incapable of facing the crisis.”

For his part, the councilor of CC-PNC, Maciot Cabrera, lamented that “when we thought things couldn't be done worse, while the councilor of Commerce justifies his lack of effectiveness due to the lack of economic resources in his department, we learned that we have to return budget items for not being able to undertake the projects for which they were granted." "I find it unheard of,” he questioned.

In this sense, Maite Corujo has also pointed to "the possible formula" to avoid similar situations in the future: "Perhaps the solution could be that the mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, and her councilor of Commerce, Armando Santana, invested a part of the enormous amount of time they spend taking self-promotion photos in dedicating themselves to work.”

Coalición Canaria-PNC in Arrecife considers that "the money lost due to the inability of the municipal executive could have been used to launch numerous measures such as a good revitalization program, the preparation of promotional leaflets to deliver to merchants, or the creation of online sales mobile applications and appointment system, among many other proposals that we have raised on several occasions to the plenary in the form of motions and that are continually rejected by the steamroller of the capital government."
