CC has rejoiced this Friday that the doors of the Tinajo Health Center are finally opening, after being "officially" inaugurated during the morning in the presence of the President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo. However, the new clinic in the municipality had already been inaugurated by the mayor last August and, since then, the residents of Tinajo and the PSOE had been denouncing that it remained closed.

In addition to Fernando Clavijo, the Director of the Canary Islands Health Service, Conrado Domínguez, the President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, and the Mayor of the municipality, Jesús Machín, attended the inauguration ceremony.

The event, which was also attended by other public and organic officials of the Canarian Coalition, such as the island secretary, Migdalia Machín, the local secretary, Luis Miguel Pérez, and the director of the Lanzarote Health Area, Erasmo García, "represents the materialization of the commitment of the Canarian Executive to respond to the health needs of the population", they point out from CC.

"With the transition from clinic to health center, the provision of services is significantly expanded for the 5,300 health cards we have in the municipality", stressed the local secretary of CC in Tinajo, Luis Miguel Pérez, who pointed out that "the next step will be to ensure that we also have an emergency service so that our residents do not have to travel to Tías every time one arises."

Construction of a parking lot and ambulance tender

For his part, the mayor, Jesús Machín, highlighted the "commitment" of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote to the municipality of Tinajo, highlighting the acquisition, with funds from both institutions, of the land located next to the health center "which is essential to build a parking lot for people who come to the health center, the future Youth Center of Tinajo", etc.

Likewise, Machín also thanked that the new ambulance tender that the Government of the Canary Islands is going to launch "shortly" has been extended to the Tinajo area. "Until now, the ambulance in the municipality is being maintained with 44,000 euros that come from municipal coffers. The fact that the Government also assumes this commitment is good news for the City Council since we will be able to allocate that money to other needs," he said.

The health center will be "fully operational" on February 4

According to CC, the new building, belonging to the San Bartolomé-Tinajo Basic Health Zone, will be "fully operational" next Monday, February 4. It is located on a plot of 1,261 square meters, behind the Plaza de San Roque, ceded to the SCS (Canary Islands Health Service) by the City Council.

Its construction has involved an outlay of 836,270 euros and will operate with an admissions area, administration and archive of medical records, sample collection room, pediatrics area with two consulting rooms, waiting room and toilet, two adult nursing consultations, two family medicine consultations, a multipurpose consultation, waiting rooms and toilets, treatment and emergency room, staff changing rooms and warehouses.
