The project has a budget of "968,727 euros" charged to funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) Next Generation EU, it is indicated in the statement.

The Minister of Ecological Transition, Mariano H. Zapata, has indicated that these works, “must be completed in 2025 and will be carried out in coordination with the Cabildo of Lanzarote”. In his opinion, “it will be crucial to protect this natural area that, due to the passage of time and human action, needs these improvement works”.

“What we are looking for is to restore what is damaged and heal what is wounded in the environment” so that “this area so that the nature of Lanzarote enjoys good health and lasts over time with the best conservation conditions”, said the counselor.

Among the priority actions, there is the "cleaning and restoration of degraded areas, the removal of roads and the installation of deterrent barriers that prevent passage through areas not authorized for this, as well as informative signage".

Also, the "correction of profiles modified by human action and the control of invasive alien species" will be carried out, and "spaces with their own species" of the area will be restored.

These tasks will be executed by the company Tragsa and will have a total budget of "968,727 euros", must be executed in the second semester of the year 2025. The proposed actions will be carried out on an approximate total surface of 465 hectares and will aim to restore the most vulnerable habitats, as well as those that are in an unfavorable state of conservation or whose lands are partially degraded.

The areas of action of the project will be the Caldera El Cuervo, the El Cuervo parking lot, the LZ-56 road and the Montaña Colorada, although other spaces could be added if necessary.
