Last Friday, several human bone remains were located in the excavation work that the Arucas City Council has been carrying out since June 16 in the well of Llano de Las Brujas, in Montaña Blanca. It is believed that they could belong to the victims of the Civil War, according to the Aruquense consistory.

Once the group of archaeologists confirmed the discovery, the Historical Memory Association of Arucas was notified and the aforementioned discovery was reported to the corresponding Arucas Investigating Court, as well as to the Civil Guard post, as required in Law 52/2007, of December 26.

From this moment on, civil works are paralyzed pending the start of archaeological work inside the well, to continue with the project drafted by the Department of Historical Heritage of the Arucas City Council, which has the corresponding administrative authorizations.

Already in the first phase of the works, in mid-June, various materials were found outside the excavation, such as a medal, a button and a bullet.

For all the above and given the expectation that these findings cause in everyone, it is why from the direction of the work, according to Royal Decree 1627/1997 of October 24, which establishes the minimum provisions on safety and health in construction works, access to the well area is totally prohibited to those people who are not duly authorized.
