The president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and regional deputy, Astrid Pérez, was part of the delegation of the Popular Party of the Canary Islands that traveled to Melilla, which was headed by the regional president, Manuel Domínguez. During this trip, the president of the PP in Lanzarote stated that the resignation or dismissal of the Minister of the Interior, Grande-Marlaska, is more than justified due to the "terrible management" he has carried out of the migratory crisis in recent years. For the mayor of Arrecife, the "lack of response" from the State Government to the islands "cannot be free for Sánchez", who continues to act as if the migratory problem is not his concern.
For the deputy, "the head of the Interior is directly responsible for the fact that the radar of the Exterior Surveillance System (SIVE) has not yet been installed in the north of the island" and that "we have been waiting for six years for an instrument to detect boats that would help prevent many of the deaths that occur on our coasts", Pérez points out. “It is a disgrace that we are about to finish this term and the Government continues to fail to meet its own deadlines", she also added.
Likewise, Pérez points out "the lack of commitment that both the head of the Interior and Sánchez have had with Lanzarote" by imposing a Temporary Foreigner Attention Center (CATE) in the heart of the city and on land and in some "deplorable conditions". For the Mayor of Arrecife, the Government has acted in a totally improvised manner since they had more than enough time to have planned and executed decent facilities.
"If we add the serious deficit of National Police and Civil Guard officers to the absence of SIVE and the tent camp, the result cannot be more disastrous and devastating", concludes the PP leader.
