Arrecife tenders the training and care service for the Canine Unit of the Local Police

Companies interested in offering the service have until November 10 to submit their economic and technical proposals to the City Council

The Arrecife City Council has announced the publication on the Public Sector Procurement Platform of the training, veterinary and maintenance service for the Canine Unit of the municipality's Local Police. This contract foresees a duration of two years, which could be extended for up to two more years.

The service must be offered 24 hours a day, every day of the year, as specified in the technical specifications. In addition, the training of these dogs will be complementary to that carried out by the police team of the Canine Unit of the Local Police of Arrecife.

The city council stated in a press release that this Canine Unit, together with the Citizen Security Unit of the Arrecife Police (USCI), is "achieving significant results" in the investigation and detection of narcotic substances. Added to this is the Drone Unit that the police force has.

Five agents and five guide dogs

The City Council puts the number of drug dens closed to date at eleven and has announced that it is increasing the presence of the Local Police Canine Unit to combat the sale or consumption of illicit drugs in Arrecife's public spaces.

In total, the Canine Unit is made up of five human members (one officer and four agents) and five trained guide dogs. Interested companies have until November 10 to submit economic and technical proposals.

The awarded firm or individual must be registered in Section V "Zoological Nuclei" of the Registry of Livestock Farms (Decree 292/93. BOC 157, of December 13, 1993), subsection two (Breeding centers and similar), in compliance with the provisions of article 39 of the Animal Protection Regulations (Decree 117/95 BOC. nº62 of May 19, 1995), being pertinent the fulfillment of the measures (prophylaxis and animal welfare in general).
