The Department of Social Welfare of the Arrecife City Council has launched a training and awareness service aimed at families in the municipality. Through a series of specialized workshops, this initiative seeks to provide tools and strategies to improve coexistence and well-being in homes.
These workshops, which have already begun to take place at the Arrecife Youth Center, are taught by professionals from the Canary Association for Family, Educational and Psychosocial Intervention and Mediation "+Familia". Each session, designed for a small group of between 12 and 15 people, focuses on key aspects of family life, such as conflict resolution, positive parenting, household economy management, coping with separations, self-esteem and body image, and developmental development in early childhood.
Maite Corujo has highlighted the importance of this initiative, emphasizing that "the well-being of families is essential for the social development of our municipality. With these workshops we want to offer parents, mothers and caregivers practical and effective tools to face the daily challenges of parenting and coexistence." She has also emphasized that the working methodology will be participatory and dynamic, guaranteeing meaningful learning for all attendees.
The workshops will address key issues that affect family life. The first of these, on conflict resolution, started on February 11 and held its second session today, the 18th. The next one will be on February 25, and will end on March 11. During these sessions, participants will learn strategies to manage disagreements constructively, fostering effective communication and mutual respect.
The families that will participate in this first workshop have been selected through the Municipal Team Specialized in Attention to Children and Families, thus ensuring attention adapted to their specific needs.
The rest of the workshops (positive parenting, household economy, coping with separations, self-esteem and body image, and developmental development in early childhood) will also have open places for the general population.
The one that will be taught on discipline and positive parenting will be held on March 25 and 26, as well as on April 1 and 8, allowing parents to acquire tools based on gentle and firm discipline, promoting a respectful and structured parenting environment.
The household economy workshop will take place on March 12 and 19, concluding on April 9. In these sessions, financial planning in the home will be worked on, teaching families how to optimize their resources and promote responsible consumption habits.
The positive coping with couple separations will be the theme of the workshop scheduled for May 7, 14 and 21, providing support to those going through breakup processes and offering strategies to cope with change and ensure the emotional well-being of all family members.
The workshop on self-esteem and body image will be held on April 22 and 29, with a final session on May 13, helping participants develop confidence in themselves and learn techniques to improve their self-perception.
Finally, the developmental development and early childhood workshop will be taught on May 26, 27 and 28, providing essential knowledge about the stages of child growth and helping families better understand the development of their children and provide them with adequate support in each phase of their lives.
"We hope that this initiative will have a positive impact on citizens, and for this purpose the creation of support networks between the participating families will be promoted," says Corujo.
