The Arrecife City Council, through the Mobility area, has published the call for the exam of the Aptitude Tests to obtain the Municipal Taxi Driver's Permit in the municipality of Arrecife, a necessary enabling certificate for the exercise of the profession of taxi driver, collected in article 8 of Decree 74/2012 by which the Taxi Service Regulations in the Canary Islands are approved.
In this way, the Capital Consistory responds to the complaints of Arrecife taxi drivers, who pointed out that "the little service that is being provided to taxi transport users is due to the fact that we have vehicles but not drivers." A problem that the president of the San Marcial de Lanzarote Autotaxi and Autoturismo Cooperative Society, Manuel Guillén Guerra, attributed to the lack of "necessary calls for obtaining the Municipal Taxi Driver's Permit (PMCT) and the difficulty of the exams themselves."
To obtain the Municipal Permit, applicants can apply from this Friday and until March 21 at the Arrecife City Council registry, where they must also present the original documentation to be verified and to record that it is an authentic copy in the file.
Likewise, applicants must have a valid Class B or higher Car Driver's Permit, in accordance with the General Driver Regulations; not suffer from an infectious-contagious disease, nor a physical defect that makes them unable to provide the service. In addition, they must have Spanish nationality or that of another State of the European Union or another foreign country with which, by virtue of the provisions of the Treaties or International Agreements signed by Spain, the aforementioned requirement is not required.
They must also attach a passport-size photograph, General Primary Education degree or equivalent, or higher. In the case of qualifications obtained abroad, they must be in possession of the credential that accredits its homologation or validation and proof of having paid the regulatory fees.
The exam will consist of a test aimed at evaluating the knowledge of the applicants on topics related to the provision of the taxi service and will cover, at least, the following subjects: physical environment, location of public offices, official centers, educational and sports centers, health centers, main hotels and places of leisure and mass recreation and the most direct routes to reach the points of destination, general knowledge of the city, as well as street map with current names, knowledge of current regulations in relation to the Public Taxi service,
For this, the opposition will consist of two mandatory and eliminatory exercises: the first exercise will consist of a test type or light development, in a maximum time of one hour and a half. The second exercise will consist of carrying out an individual practical test, in which each applicant must identify, locate and, where appropriate, explain the history and relevance of the ten public or places of interest established by the court on the day of the exam, grouped in pairs, as well as a description of the shortest route between both. This exercise will be carried out in a maximum time of 30 minutes per applicant.
