The Department of Cleaning of the Arrecife City Council, led by Jacobo Lemes, is initiating a process of relocating several container points in different streets of the city, with the aim of improving security, optimizing waste collection and facilitating recycling.

The measure responds to the need to avoid dangerous locations, improve accessibility to containers and advance in the creation of recycling islands, where residents can have all waste fractions in the same point, thus favoring more efficient recycling. In addition, this relocation will optimize the control and maintenance of the areas through video surveillance.

The actions will begin this Friday, March 28, with the relocation of the container point on La Inés Street (Microsistemas), which will be moved to Luis Fajardo Ferrer Street. From this date, a new relocation will be carried out every Friday until the nine planned interventions are completed.

Among the upcoming modifications is the relocation of the containers on La Pardela Street, which will be relocated to José Pereyra Galviaty Street, and those on Francisco Matallana Cabrera Street, which will be moved to an area closer to the bridge. A change of location has also been planned for the containers on Ángel Ganivet Street, whose collection points in the plain area will be moved to Temisa Street, while those located in the vicinity of the Club Colombófilo will be located on Juan Sebastián El Cano Street.

In addition, the containers on Cuenca Street will be moved to the collection point on Juan Sebastián El Cano Street, and those on Elguinaguaria Street will be on Triana Street. The relocation of the container point on Augusto Lorenzo Street, which will be moved to José Ortega y Gasset Street, and those on Domingo Ferrera Street, in the vicinity of the Arrecife Shopping Center, which will be relocated to Puerto Rico Street, has also been scheduled.

To guarantee information about these modifications, residents of the affected areas will receive an explanatory letter with details of the action, the reasons for the change and the benefits that this reorganization will bring.

The Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, has highlighted that "these modifications seek a cleaner, safer and more efficient city in waste management. We want to facilitate recycling and improve accessibility to containers, while ensuring better control of the service. In addition, security plays a fundamental role in this reorganization, since bringing the collection points closer to the monitored areas will help deter those who engage in burning containers, illegal dumping or other acts of vandalism."

The councilman thanks all the residents for their collaboration and understanding during this improvement process and reminds them that any questions or suggestions can be forwarded to the Department of Cleaning.
