The Arrecife City Council announces a new call for applications for the municipal permit that will allow driving taxis in the capital of Lanzarote. According to the Teguise City Council, this is the fifth call made during the current term of Yonathan de León, and Councilor Mari González Altube, as the direct head of the Department of Mobility and Transportation.

The electronic headquarters of the Arrecife City Council has published the official announcement of the Department of Transportation and Mobility, opening the period to submit applications and access this new call for aptitude tests aimed at obtaining the Municipal Taxi Driver Permit in the Municipality of Arrecife.

The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has stated that this sector, which directly employs nearly 500 families, "is creating many job opportunities and encourages people who want to have a job and build a future in this sector to register for the new call for exams promoted by the Department of Transportation and Mobility of the Arrecife City Council."

Councilor Mario González Altube has detailed that the sector has requested, in the periodic meetings, that new exams be carried out to cover the needs of the three daily shifts, every day of the year, strengthening a greater presence of these vehicles at the stops in the neighborhoods.

According to the union, the revitalization that Arrecife is experiencing in recent times in the commerce, leisure, and tourism sectors demands the services of public taxi transportation for the mobility of residents and tourists.

Open period for 15 days

Interested parties have 15 business days to submit applications to the Arrecife City Council Registry, starting from September 12, after its publication on the bulletin board of the Electronic Headquarters of the Arrecife City Council. The application form, the documentation to be submitted, and the exam rules are published in that call on the electronic headquarters.

Improving taxi transportation

Mario González Altube has stated that in this first part of the term, the City Council has been implementing different measures, agreed upon with the sector, which are progressively enabling "a gradual improvement of the taxi service in the capital."

In this sense, the recent update of the rates, since this past spring, allows municipal license holders to hire more employees to increase the shifts and rotations of taxis at the stops, especially in the neighborhoods of Arrecife.

Likewise, the fleet has two new adapted units with ramps for the transportation of passengers with reduced mobility or who travel in wheelchairs. These vehicles have received a subsidy promoted by the Municipal Government of Arrecife, led by Mayor Yonathan de León.

Submission of applications

The application and supplementary documentation that must accompany it should be addressed to the mayor of this corporation and submitted to the General Registry of the Arrecife City Council within a period of fifteen business days.

Starting from the day after the publication of this call on the bulletin board of this City Council and, where appropriate, the Electronic Headquarters, without prejudice to the provisions of article 16 of Law 39/2015 of the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

The exams

A first test, consisting of a multiple-choice or short-answer format, with a maximum time of one and a half hours, will be provided by the Tribunal on the day of the exam in relation to the provisions of article 18.2 of the Municipal Taxi Service Regulations of the Arrecife City Council.

The second exercise will consist of carrying out an individual practical test, in which each applicant must identify, locate, and, where appropriate, explain the history and relevance of the ten public and/or places of interest established by the tribunal on the day of the exam.
