Arrecife is taking a firm step towards modernization and sustainability with the installation of the first solar compacting bins in strategic areas of the city. The initiative, promoted by the City Council's Department of Cleaning, seeks to optimize waste management and improve the urban image.

The councillor has supervised this morning, together with the deputy mayor and head of the Contracting Area, Echedey Eugenio, the installation of the first units, which are part of a rental contract with the company Future Street España SL, for an annual amount of 14,820 euros (plus IGIC).

The 13 units acquired have begun to be distributed in strategic points of the city, such as Calle Real, Charco de San Ginés, Playa del Reducto (near the Gran Hotel), near the Open Mall Shopping Center, Parque Islas Canarias, in front of the Town Hall, the area of La Plazuela and the Music Kiosk. These bins, powered by solar energy, have the capacity to store up to six times more waste than a traditional container, thanks to its compaction system that exerts a pressure of 550 kg.

Each unit is equipped with sensors that detect the filling level and automatically activate the compaction process, thus optimizing the collection frequency. This intelligent system is connected to a real-time management platform that allows monitoring the status of each bin, generating filling alerts, monitoring the efficiency of the service and facilitating collection logistics. In addition, they have GPS for a more precise and efficient management.

Among its additional features are its robust construction in galvanized metal, recycled plastic panels with high impact resistance, leak-proof interior containers and an ashtray
integrated with capacity for approximately 2,000 cigarette butts
, designed to minimize the risk of fire. Also, they include a security system that prevents unauthorized access and the possibility of incorporating a Wi-Fi access point to improve connectivity in public spaces.

The Councilor for Cleaning, Jacobo Lemes, said that this action is part of the urban improvement plans that the City Council is implementing and assures that
