The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, and the councilor of Tourism and Commerce, Armando Santana, have inaugurated, this Thursday, December 16, the Christmas Market organized by the Commerce and Tourism area and the Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Lanzarote, which is located next to the Monumental Nativity Scene in the José Ramírez Cerdá park until January 5, 2022.

The mayor, along with other municipal representatives, took a tour of the Christmas Market highlighting "the high quality of the space located next to the Monumental Nativity Scene and the leisure area for the little ones", turning the old capital park into "the authentic heart of Christmas in Arrecife."

The Christmas Market is located in a 600 square meter tent, occupied with 20 wooden booths of 6 square meters with handicrafts and gastronomy products. In addition, it also has a small amusement park for the little ones, musical performances every day and different workshops will make this area of Arrecife the meeting point during these holidays

The mayor of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, said that "thanks to this initiative, from the City Council we achieved a perfect combination of leisure, culture and tradition, and without a doubt it will be an important support to boost the economy, while strengthening the craft sector both locally and insularly. And from here I want to take the opportunity to invite all the residents of Arrecife and the island to visit our market and be surprised by the good atmosphere we have created."

For his part, the Councilor of Commerce, Armando Santana, had words to "congratulate the technicians, municipal workers and Felapyme for the great work they have done in the assembly of the Christmas Market, which comes to meet a demand of many residents for the lack of activity in the capital, especially in times like Christmas". "And I also want to say that we have zero tolerance for counterfeiting in the field of crafts, because all they do is harm the true craftsman and merchant," said the head of the area.

The City Council of Arrecife adds that the Christmas Market has "Covid signage", and is decorated with LED Christmas bonuses and a red carpet of 120 square meters, which gives it "the warmth and Christmas colors so that all citizens can walk safely and comfortably throughout the space."

The Christmas Market will be open until January 5, 2022, the eve of Epiphany, in the morning and afternoon from 10.30 to 14.00 hours and from 17.00 to 20.00 hours from Monday to Thursday, while Friday and Saturday it is extended in the afternoon until 21.00 hours, except on December 24 and 31, which will be open only in the morning from 10.30 to 15.00 hours. On Sundays, the Christmas Market will be closed, as well as the holidays of December 25 and January 1, 2022. On the eve of Epiphany, January 5, the hours will be from 10.30 to 21.00 hours.
