The Councilor for Education and Culture of the Arrecife City Council, Abigail González, "has reinforced her commitment to the mobility and accessibility of citizens" to cultural and educational initiatives, both within the municipality and in the rest of the island of Lanzarote, with the awarding of the discretionary road passenger transport service. Or, what is the same, the implementation of a bus service so that everyone can enjoy the programming designed by the areas González directs.
This contract, formalized this week by the Deputy Mayor and Head of Finance and Contracting, Echedey Eugenio, has an annual value of 107,000 euros, with the possibility of extension for up to four years, and will guarantee the availability of transportation for activities promoted by the City Council, thus ensuring greater citizen participation and promoting access to culture and education in an equitable manner.
The awarded service contemplates the transfer of groups of people through intramunicipal and intermunicipal modalities, both day and night, and the vehicles will have the required adaptations for passengers with reduced mobility. In addition, strict standards of quality and punctuality are established.
The Deputy Mayor and Head of the area, Echedey Eugenio, highlighted the importance of this award: "With this service, we reinforce our commitment to universal access to education and culture, facilitating the participation of the entire population, regardless of their location or personal circumstances."
For her part, the Councilor for Education and Culture, Abigail González, pointed out that "thanks to this initiative, transportation barriers that hindered attendance at cultural and educational events will be eliminated, thus ensuring that more people can enjoy a diverse and quality municipal offer."
The Arrecife City Council "continues to bet on improving public services and accessibility to culture and education. In the last two years, the city has experienced a notable growth in its cultural and educational programming, with a diverse and quality offer, and consolidating itself as a benchmark on the island of Lanzarote," they conclude from the Consistory.
