The Arrecife City Council has hired 49 workers who, starting this Monday and over the next six months, will perform functions in different departments of the City Council.
The new staff, who were welcomed this Monday morning by the mayor, Yonathan de León, and the capital's Employment Officer, Maciot Cabrera, have accessed the Employment Program “Arrecife Camin@ 2023”.
This Employment Program is organized by the Local Development Agency of the capital's City Council and is part of an agreement between the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Arrecife City Council that regulates the procedure for granting direct nominal subsidies to job-creating projects, with the aim of carrying out actions to support local development.
Thus, Arrecife receives a subsidy of 640,755 euros for hiring from the first island institution.
The city's mayor, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that this new municipal employment plan aims to reinforce many of the municipal areas with professionals to attend to the numerous investments that are being launched in this new mandate.
Yonathan de León also values the promotion of job opportunities through these employment plans for nearly fifty residents who, for various reasons, were previously unemployed, and with these hires, they return to the labor market, allowing their families to have an economic income.
For his part, Maciot Cabrera pointed out that “betting on these programs is working to respond to the economic and social difficulties faced by certain groups and families in vulnerable situations.”
He also stated that “we are determined to promote employment and economic reactivation in our municipality. To achieve this, we are carrying out works and services of general and social interest in Arrecife. These actions not only generate job opportunities but also contribute to the common welfare and sustainable development of our city.”
Among the hired personnel are: cleaning laborers, technical engineers, plumbers, painters, administrative assistants, bricklayers, truck drivers, administrative staff, cleaning officers, lawyers, architects, graphic designers, library assistants, education and leisure monitors, psychologists, social workers, social educators, and secondary education teachers.
These people will be responsible for carrying out various actions to achieve the objectives established in the Employment Program “Arrecife Camin@ 2023”, among which are the recovery, cleaning, maintenance, and beautification of the natural areas of the municipal urban area, as well as the playgrounds and bio-healthy areas; the implementation of a plan for the drafting, adaptation, and rehabilitation of municipal-owned spaces and infrastructures; support for the mobility and urban planning service; the promotion of culture and reading; the provision of a psychological care/intervention service to the minors of the municipality; the facilitation of a mentor classroom; the realization of a diagnosis of the homes of the recipients of the Canary Islands Citizen Income; and the management of subsidies. These actions reflect our commitment to the well-being and progress of the Arrecife community.
