The Professional Association of the Civil Guard Corps (AUGC) on Thursday called for the resignation of the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Carolina Darias, because in their opinion she "neither directs nor coordinates" the Civil Administration of the State in the Islands. The professional association points out that Darias called the staff of the Integrated Exterior Surveillance System (Sive) of Lanzarote "liars" when rejecting that the possession of food or drink was prohibited, when an Order of August 19, 2010 specifies the opposite.

"We do not know if her statements have been of her own making or whether she is complying with the Law that regulates the functions of the Government Delegate and follows precise instructions from the Presidency of the Government, which would surprise us, even less if her intention is to discredit an organization such as AUGC," the association, to which 50 percent of the Civil Guard staff in the province of Las Palmas are affiliated, states in a note.

The association recalls that in March 2007 Carolina Darias "took the photo" at the SIVE facilities in Lanzarote, and 40 months later "she has still not managed to have toilets built and to comply with the minimum health and safety requirements in the workplace".

"We know that the Prevention of Occupational Risks in the Civil Guard is not a subject that politicians like, since it involves investing money and not collecting it, as is the case with the installation of fixed radars in sections without accidents in traffic, such as in Gando", denounces in the note made public today, before underlining the "devastating" report of the Ombudsman on the Civil Guard Barracks of Arguineguín, where "they continue working in conditions more typical of an underdeveloped country than of the European Union".
