Unemployment in Lanzarote decreases by 926 people in October

The island has 11,977 unemployed people, 7.2% less than in September

Lanzarote registered in October 926 fewer unemployed than in the previous month. Specifically, according to data from the Canary Islands Employment Observatory collected by the Cabildo Data Center, at the end of the month there were 11,977 unemployed on the island, which represents a decrease of 7.2% compared to September.

In comparison with the data from October 2020, unemployment has decreased by 33.4% in Lanzarote, since at that time the island had 17,975 unemployed.

Although the percentage decrease in the month of October is lower than in the previous four months, Lanzarote has already had six consecutive months in which unemployment data has improved considerably. So much so, that the island has 7,926 fewer unemployed than in the month of May, when the figure of 19,903 unemployed was reached.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, unemployment fell by 5,242 people in August compared to the previous month. Specifically, the archipelago closed October with a total of 208,316 unemployed, a figure that represents a decrease of 2.45 percent compared to the month of September and 20.64 percent year-on-year.
