The Government of the Canary Islands remains "in contact" and has offered "all possible help" to the family of the Canary Island child who is in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, who intends to return to the archipelago, and for this has requested the collaboration of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Presidency.
The little one lives with his mother, who is Ukrainian, but also has Canary Island roots, specifically from Arucas.
The spokesman for the Canary Islands Executive, Julio Pérez, explained after the Governing Council that the family of the minor, with whom President Ángel Víctor Torres maintains contact, has expressed their desire to leave the country and return to the islands, as have the other three Canary Islanders who were in Ukraine when the Russian invasion began.
Pérez pointed out that the minor resides in an area "especially punished" by Russian bombings, so there are difficulties to leave, but the Government of the Canary Islands has offered support to the family in whatever they need and the president has spoken with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños.
