The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, on behalf of the government team of the City Council, formed by PSOE, Lanzarote Avanza (LAVA) and Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos, has expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Carlos Manrique Cabrera, who died yesterday at the age of 96 at the Molina Orosa General Hospital.

The government group of the City Council of Tías regrets the death of Carlos Manrique, younger brother of the artist César Manrique, who died in 1992 as a result of a traffic accident. "In 2019, Carlos Manrique publicly asked the island authorities to take care of and preserve his brother's work," the Council recalls. "And to all of us, to follow his example of commitment to art, culture, the territory and life," he adds.

"The Manrique legacy was reinforced by the affection and the request for conservation also shown by Carlos Manrique, brother of the artist. From the municipality of Tías we appreciate his commitment and his desire to build a better future for the island of Lanzarote," said José Juan Cruz.
