The professional opportunities fair Planéate, organized by the Department of Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, celebrates its tenth edition and is consolidated in the island's educational calendar in this 2024-25 academic year with new proposals, guided tours and a complete program of informative and advisory actions.
The Minister of Education, Ascensión Toledo, presented the student and teacher meeting, which she assured “constitutes a unique opportunity for knowledge and orientation for students facing a change of cycle and who, on occasions, are unaware of the multiple options that open up to them in the construction of their future.”
According to her, “in Lanzarote we have left behind the times when the future was written and today we have countless alternatives. And that is our mission: to remind students facing a change of stage that there are many options, among which the exit from the educational system should in no case be included.”
Also, as an important novelty, the Minister highlighted the special attention to adapted and inclusive education, “which is a fundamental pillar of equality and a necessary springboard for the normalization of the student body with disabilities of any kind” and which will have an informative session in the open afternoon for families.
In this regard, the representative of the third sector and spokesperson for Adislan, Elyzaida Saavedra, expressed the urgency of having training offer adapted to the needs and circumstances of people with disabilities “as the only possible way to access the labor market and the exercise of their rights.”
The Island Director of Education, Carmen Pellón, thanked the Cabildo de Lanzarote for organizing this activity and recalled that the Government of the Canary Islands acts as a bridge between companies and Vocational Training to detect the needs of companies and sectors with greater employability. For his part, the director of CIFP Zonzamas, Isaac Molina, expressed his satisfaction for hosting for the second year the Professional Opportunities Fair, which he described as “a remarkable contribution and guide from the Cabildo for advising families regarding the training decisions of their sons and daughters.”
Tenth edition
One more year, the Fair repeats its location at the Zonzamas Integrated Vocational Training Center in Arrecife, which will take place between April 1 and 3. During the three school days, the meeting will receive 3,000 students in the morning, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in three daily shifts, to receive precise information about the different public and private education centers and the training offer inside and outside the island, through brief presentations and direct attention from the displaced teams.
Planéate returns with the commitment to guide and advise students in choosing from the various training itineraries that facilitate their labor insertion in the future. Since its first edition, the educational event has become one of the events of greatest interest for students in 4th year of ESO, 2nd year of Baccalaureate, Aula Enclave, Basic FP and Adapted FP.
