The Platform for Decent Housing in Lanzarote has called a rally for January 20 to highlight the problem of the lack of housing on the island "in the face of the lack of reaction from the competent authorities, both locally and regionally or state."
"The lack of housing is, by far, the main problem in Lanzarote today. A problem that especially affects hundreds of families who live in rented accommodation in the uncertainty that the owners will terminate the contract without the possibility of finding an alternative, as well as many others who have been forced to occupy empty houses or leave," they point out from the platform, from where they point out that "beyond the people directly affected", as a society we also "are seriously harmed by not having accommodation to cover fundamental professional positions in areas as critical as education, health, etc."
From the Platform for Decent Housing in Lanzarote, they invite civil society as a whole, associations, groups of all kinds and individuals, to attend the mobilization, which will take place at 11 am on Calle Real, in front of the Casa Amarilla, "We are under the ethical and social obligation to demand that something be done to remedy this scourge," they conclude.
