The mayoress of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, will propose in the ordinary plenary session on April 29 the appointment of the singer and composer Rosana Arbelo Gopar as Favorite Daughter of the city. According to her, at the end of last year she personally raised the proposal and "Rosana accepted it, on the spot, very excited and delighted."
"For Arrecife it is a pride that an artist of the stature of Rosana, with an impressive career as a singer and composer, and also with very high human values, accepts this recognition from the city that saw her born, and that has followed her steps from her beginnings to reach the success and international fame she has today," says Ástrid Pérez.
After the proposal is debated in the Plenary Session, which Pérez assumes will be approved, a date will be set for the institutional act of recognition, following the regulations of Honors and Distinctions of the Arrecife City Council. "Not only are the trajectories and professional merits of the nominees recognized, but also the human value, and in the case of Rosana it is more than proven," defends the mayoress.
From the Consistory they recall that during the confinement in 2020, Rosana developed a global initiative "Better to Live Without Fear" in favor of the Red Cross to raise funds for the fight against Covid 19, and also wanted to contribute her bit, and composed in the same year of the pandemic, (October 2020) the song "Life is Beautiful", whose benefits were entirely destined to the "Spanish Association against Cancer" for the fight against breast cancer.
