The secondary education institutes of Lanzarote host one more year the itinerant exhibition of the IV Poster Contest Against Gender Violence, organized by the Center for Equality and Attention to Women (CIAM). This center, attached to the Department of Social Welfare of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, has with this initiative the objective of "promoting the leading role of young people in the fight against gender violence and achieving greater awareness regarding their more than necessary involvement in order to eradicate all forms of mistreatment of women." This exhibition, which celebrates this year the fourth consecutive edition, is part of the CIAM program on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The exhibited works have been created by students of third and fourth of ESO, and first of Bachillerato, and reflect "the particular vision that the participants have regarding this problem." Globally, according to the Cabildo, the exhibition tries to send a message of rejection and zero tolerance to gender violence.

The first educational center that hosted the exhibition was the secondary education institute of Tías, according to the Corporation. Now, the exhibition has moved to the institute of Playa Honda and, as in previous years, will be moved later to all secondary education centers of Lanzarote, during this and the next school year.

The Minister of Social Welfare of the Cabildo, Lucía Olga Tejera, has indicated that "the dissemination of the work done by young people is fundamental in the fight to eradicate gender violence. A fight that must begin in the classrooms of schools and institutes".

In 2016 a total of 26 works were presented, which have been included in this exhibition. The three best valued works of this IV Contest are collected in a calendar made by the CIAM, in which the three best posters of each edition are compiled and that have been distributed by the Department of Social Welfare.
