The Civil Guard of the Teguise Coast Post, in coordination with agents of the Local Police of Teguise, proceeded to the arrest of a man, of legal age, as the presumed perpetrator of several theft offenses against tourists.

The events took place in mid-April, when a telephone notification was received from a tourist who alerted that a suspected theft was occurring on Jablillo Beach, municipality of Costa Teguise. According to what the alerter stated, a tourist couple was being the victim of the theft of their personal belongings in the sandy area.

After receiving the notice, several Civil Guard patrols, with officers from the Local Police of Teguise, moved to the location to find the perpetrator of the acts and be able to assist the victims.

Once the physical description and clothing of the alleged perpetrator were obtained, a search operation was established in the vicinity. Minutes later, the agents located a person whose characteristics fully matched the data provided.

When asked for documentation, the suspect stated he lacked it, verbally providing identification data that turned out to be false after the appropriate checks, refusing at all times to provide his current address.

Given such events, a superficial pat-down was carried out for security reasons and to locate possible criminal evidence. During the operation, a mobile terminal was found among his belongings, the technical and aesthetic characteristics of which fully match that stolen from the tourist couple.

As a result of the investigative efforts carried out, the individual's alleged involvement in various property crimes of a similar nature could be determined.

Given that the value of the stolen effects is framed as a less serious offense, and given the existence of a rational risk of non-appearance in the judicial process, and given the lack of guarantees regarding their location, together with the unequivocal identification of the perpetrator by the informant, they are proceeded to be arrested, and subsequently transferred to the Guardia Civil Barracks of Costa Teguise, where they were investigated for five more offenses by the investigation team of the aforementioned unit.

After being informed of the rights that assist him, the detainee was presented along with the report filed to the Arrecife Court on duty (Las Palmas).
