The Lanzarote Health Services Management and the Tinajo City Council have closed an agreement for the launch of a pilot project aimed at promoting Community Health from Primary Care. This initiative, based on intersectoral action and citizen participation, aims to reinforce the community orientation in the teams of the health centers and go beyond the traditional care model, while trying to respond to the main health problems that affect society.

The foundation of this project starts from the premise that the "Health Center is not the only health center" and that the factors that most influence and determine the health of the population are, according to the World Health Organization, the social conditions in which people live, work, grow and relate. Therefore, for the interventions to be carried out to be effective, they must be addressed from the different sectors and agents of the community.

Among the objectives and actions of this project are to work jointly and in a coordinated manner from all areas, to better understand the community, to create spaces for meeting and participation for the development of community health and to carry out a municipal health diagnosis. To this end, a working group has been formed consisting of technicians from the different areas of the city council, educational centers, health center, residences for the elderly, pharmacies and other entities in the municipality.
