The Apple TV super production “Foundation”, which since this Monday is being filmed at the Mirador del Río, has a second camp installed in the Guinate area, where other scenes from the second season of the series are being recorded in parallel.

In addition, another Tourist Center of Lanzarote, the Cactus Garden, will also become a location for this futuristic story. They will move there when they finish filming at the Mirador, where they plan to be for eleven days.

In the case of the Mirador del Río, it is closed to the public until filming is finished. “I've been there and it's another story. Everything is changed”, explains the councilor of the Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, who emphasizes that everything is being done “with respect and brutal affection”.

“They don't move anything without asking us,” says Perdomo, who defends the commitment to this type of filming on the island, even if in this case it means closing a center for 11 days.

The councilor has not gone into details due to the confidentiality agreement they have to sign with the producers, but he has pointed out that “the Tourist Centers rent the spaces for a considerable amount”. In addition, he highlighted the money that a team of this size leaves on the island, both in accommodation and in vehicle rental and food expenses, as well as the future impact it has on the island.

“It is very important for Lanzarote,” insists the CEO of the CACT, also pointing to the “film tourism” that this may bring in the future, after the broadcast of that second season of the series.

As for the Cactus Garden, it will be closed but in principle only for three days. The rest of the time that the team will be in that space, they will film in a part that is not open to the public, so it can be compatible with the access of tourists to the center.
